Original vintage travel advertising poster for Imperial Airways: One of the 28 Empire Flying Boats - 2 decks, 200 miles an hour, 18 tons - Imperial Airways / Europe / Africa / India / The Fair East / Australia. Great design showing details on a plane cut out with an image of the plane on sea below next to a ship, in front of mountains on the horizon. The details show an airline pilot captain and radio operator on the upper deck, used for navigation, controls and storage, and passengers on the lower deck that includes a smoking cabin, sitting and sleeping cabin areas and a kitchen, with the mail and luggage hold at the rear of the plane. Imperial Airways (1924-1939) was an early British airline company that merged into BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation; now British Airways). Printed by printed by Ben Johnson & Co. Ltd., London. Horizontal. Good condition, restored minor loss, creases and tears, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
