Original vintage double sided travel advertising chromolithograph brochure poster published by Imperial Airways The Greatest Air Service in the World featuring fantastic artwork on the cover side depicting passengers boarding an Empire Flying Boat on the water with rowing and sailing boats with a ship and land along the horizon with the title in white letters against a black banner on the top and Europe Africa India China Australia in black letters on a light banner below; on the inside the brochure features colourful detailed cut-away illustrations depicting passengers on various class of aircraft operated by Imperial Airways with the Speedbird logo and descriptions including the land plane Diana (1934-1941), de Havilland Hercules (1926-1935), Hannibal (1931-1940), Scylla (1934-1940), Armstrong Whitworth Atalanta (1932-1941) and the flying boat Scipio (1931-1936) with the airline's route map of the world and black and white photos of The Luxury of the Empire Flying Boat. The British airline company Imperial Airways operated services in Europe and around the world from 1924-1939, originally based at Croydon Airport in London; the company merged into the British Overseas Airways Corporation BOAC in 1939, which then merged with British European Airways BEA in 1974 to form British Airways BA (now based at Heathrow Airport in London). Printed in England by Ben Johnson & Co. Ltd., London and York. Excellent condition, folded as issued.

Are your posters originals?

All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity. 

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography. 

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.

Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
