Original vintage travel advertising poster - Fly By Imperial Airways London to Paris while you lunch Prague 6 hours Vienna 7 1/2 hours Budapest 9 hours - featuring colourful artwork by the British commercial artist and poster designer Stanley Herbert (1905-1967) showing a busy scene outside a French cafe of people with small angel wings on their backs enjoying their drinks at the tables chatting, smoking and reading a newspaper, a waiter carrying glasses on a tray, a sailor waving and two men walking by in the foreground, the bold blue, red and black text above with the logo and below. The iconic Speedbird logo was designed for Imperial Airways in 1932 by the English graphic artist Theyre Lee-Elliott (David Lee Theyre Elliott; 1903-1988) and used by BOAC and BA. Founded in 1924 the British airline Imperial Airways merged into the British Overseas Airways Corporation BOAC in 1939, later merging with the British European Airways BEA to form British Airways BA in 1974. Printed in Great Britain by Hudson and Kearns Ltd, Hatfield Street, London. Good condition, restored folds, restored tears, staining, restored pinholes, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
