Think Red Wedge UK Election Thatcher
Original vintage Active Involvement political poster issued to encourage youth participation in the UK General Election - Think! - featuring a dynamic Constructivist inspired design of a double exposed image of the Conservative politician Margaret Thatcher (1925-2013; Prime Minister 1979-1990) inside the shape of a four-engine bomber plane on a diagonal red and white background with three silhouettes in white of missile bombs dropping over the bold title grey lettering below the aircraft on a diagonal black band. Printed and published by Red Wedge (1985-1990), a British collective of musicians who aimed to oust the Conservative government by educating the youth about the policies of the Labour Party through music concerts and comedy tours leading up to the 1987 General Election. The collective's iconic logo of a red wedge was designed by the English graphic designer and typographer Neville Brody (b.1957) as a homage to El Lissitzky's famous 1919 Soviet poster Beat the Whites with the Red Wedge. What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
