Soviet Army Sacrifice Hero Soldier Matrosov WWII
Original vintage Soviet propaganda poster - To a Bright Life on Earth. Dedicated to the feat of A. Matrosov / Во имя светлой жизни на земле. Подвигу А. Матросова посвящается - featuring a striking image showing a Red Army soldier in a helmet with a star on it diving in front of a line of missiles and other weapons to protect the peace depicted as a circle of calm blue sky above, his body in shades of red forming the shape of a red flag of the USSR with the text in bold lighter red lettering on it. Private Alexander Matrosov (1924-1943) was a Soviet infantry soldier who was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for sacrificing his life during World War Two by blocking a German machine gun with his body to allow the Soviet troops to advance and reclaim the village of Chernushki; his rifle regiment was renamed the Matrosov Regiment. FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
