Original vintage Soviet propaganda poster - A pioneer is a diligent student he is disciplined and polite - featuring an illustration of a young school boy wearing a red neck tie of the Pioneers, standing in front of a chalk board solving a maths equation, the bold red lettering below. The Young Pioneers (Vladimir Lenin All-Union Pioneer Organisation; 1922-1991) was a Soviet youth organisation similar to the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides groups for children aged 9-15 years old; the uniform included a distinctive red neckerchief on a white shirt and their motto was to be prepared: Always Prepared / Всегда готов! ДОСААФ (Dosaaf; the Volunteer Society for Cooperation with the Army, Aviation and Fleet) was founded in 1927 for the development of paramilitary sports as a preparation for reserve armed forces. Good condition, creasing, staining, pinholes, ink stamp in bottom left corner.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
