Come Along Boys Enlist ToDay UK WWI
Original vintage World War One military recruitment poster - Come Along Boys! Enlist To-Day - featuring a great design by W.H. Caffyn (1870-1958) showing a smiling British soldier walking along with his Enfield rifle gun whilst smoking a pipe and looking out to the viewer against the white background with an extract from letter written in the trenches of the Aisne by General Sir Horace Smith-Dorrien (1858-1930): The moment the order came to go forward, there were smiling faces everywhere. The First Battle of the Aisne took place in September 1914; the British Expeditionary Force II Corps under the command of the distinguished British Army officer General Sir Horace Lockwood Smith-Dorrien (who also fought in the Second Boer War and was one of the few British survivors of the Anglo-Zulu War Battle of Isandlwana) led the advance at Aisne due to I Corps under General Douglas Haig being delayed by the forests. Published by the Parlimentary Recruiting Committee – Poster No. 22. Printed by the Haycock-Cadle Co. London. Good condition, restored tears, restored paper losses, staining, backed on linen.

More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
