Original vintage Olympics sport poster for the VII Winter Olympic Games held in Cortina d'Ampezzo Italy in 1956 - VII Giochi Olimpici d'Inverno Cortina d'Ampezzo 1956 - featuring a great graphic design depicting a view of the dramatic Dolomites mountains in the Italian Alps below the Olympic Rings logo and white star of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), seen through a stylised snowflake with the title text around this official emblem of the Games on a blue background. This 1956 Winter Olympics was won by the Soviet Union with 16 medals followed by Austria with 11 medals and Finland with 7 medals; it was also the first Winter Games event to be broadcast live on television. Good condition, restored loss on margins, restored tears, minor staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
