Original vintage sport poster published by the Levi Strauss clothing brand (founded 1853) for the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games featuring a dynamic graphic design depicting a football player in white kicking a ball from the map of South America up to a footballer kicking the ball with a ring around it into orbit against the dark blue space background, the Levi's logo and stylised title text in the margin below. One of a series of six posters commissioned by the blue jeans manufacturer Levi's as official sponsors of the US team for the 1980 Olympic Games; this Levi's Olympic Opportunity Sweepstakes campaign emphasised a sport associated with each of the six continents competing in the event - Skiing (North America), Gymnastics (Asia), Swimming (Australia), Track & Field (Africa), Soccer (South America), Cycling (Europe) - but the posters were withdrawn following the decision by US President Carter to boycott the Olympics in protest after the USSR invaded Afghanistan in December 1979. Excellent condition.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
