Equestrian Games Stockholm Summer Olympic Games 1956
Original vintage sport poster for Equestrian Games of the XVI Olympics 1956 / Reiterspiele Der XVI Olympiade hosted by Stockholm from 10 to 17 June 1956 for the dressage, eventing (dressage, cross-country and show jumping), and show jumping events that were held in Sweden instead of Melbourne due to Australia's six-month quarantine regulations on horses. Great design in an ancient Roman statuesque style depicting a horse and rider with the bold text and Olympic Rings logo below. The equestrian event was won by Sweden followed by the United Team of Germany in second place and Great Britain in third place. Good condition, restored tears, restored paper loss in top left corner, minor staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
