Original vintage World War Two poster - The Empire's Strength / Do you know that New Zealand produces six times as much butter to-day as during the last war and twice as much cheese: that wool, meat and fruit are also exported in very large quantities. These are the sinews of war - featuring an agricultural view of a cattle farm by the notable British painter and poster designer Harold Sandys Williamson (1892-1978) showing black, white and brown cows standing in a field with tractors in front of the milking shed building, the scenic countryside view leading past trees to a mountain in the distance and the heading with a crown logo above, the bold title and rest of the text below. Printed for H.M. Stationery Office by Greycaines Ltd., Watford and London. Very good condition, folds, minor staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
