Original vintage sport poster for the Women's World Handball Championship 1968 / Первенство Мира По Ручному Мячу held in the Soviet cities of Kiev, Leningrad and Moscow featuring a dynamic white line design by Eduard Nikolayev Drobnitsky (1941-2007), depicting an Art Deco style handball player in a jump and shoot position holding a colourful handball against the blue background with the logo in yellow above and the bold white lettering below, the colourful lines leading to the dates and cities in yellow red and blue on the side: 13-15 December Kiev and Leningrad (now St Petersburg) 17-21 December Moscow. Founded in 1946, the International Handball Federation IHF organises the IHF World Men's Handball Championship (since 1938), and the IHF World Women's Handball Championship (since 1957); this 1968 tournament was organised by the USSR Handball Federation / Федерация Ручному Мячу СССР but was cancelled due to the Soviet intervention in Czechoslovakia that year. Good condition, folds, minor tear.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
