Original vintage London Transport poster advertising the Smithfield Club Cattle Show held on 5-9 December at The Royal Agricultural Hall featuring a great graphic design of a white and brown bull on a green background looking down at the bold text diagonally on an orange background, the London Transport roundel in green and black at the top and travel information below - By Underground to Angel or by Bus or Tram. Founded in 1799 the annual Smithfield Club Cattle Show was first held at Wootton's Livery Stables in Dolphin Yard Smithfield London; the last show was held in 2004, the last major livestock show in London. Artwork by the Reimann School artist TVY; this notable but short-lived school of art and design opened in Berlin in 1902 then moved to London in 1937, closing at the start of World War Two. Horizontal. Very good condition, minor staining, minor creasing, small tears.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
