International Overseas Exhibition Paris 1931
Original vintage poster advertising the International Overseas Exhibition Paris 1931 featuring a colourful design by Victor Jean Desmeures (1895-1965) of four men from different countries dressed in traditional clothing including a man from Asia wearing an oriental bamboo hat, a man with long hair wearing a tribal necklace and a man wearing a yellow necklace, and a man from the Middle East wearing a white Arab head covering, a French flag flying from a building and pagoda stupas against the blue sky background, the bold title text above and below with the tagline on the side margins - Round the World in One Day. Held from 6 May to 15 November the Paris Colonial Exhibition / Exposition Coloniale Internationale showcased the diverse cultures and resources of the French colonies including native arts and crafts and architecture from the different continents. Printed by Robert Lang in Paris. Good condition, restored paper losses, restored tears, minor staining, ink stamp, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
