Evening Guinness

Sold

Original vintage advertising poster for Guinness. Image of a man wearing a green cap reading a copy of the Evening Guinness newspaper, holding a glass of the Irish stout beer, Guinness. The articles all feature news items relating to the drink, including: the excavation of hand-made Guinness Stout bottles in old mining towns in Western America reveal that the drink was well known there in the 1850s; the German Iron Chancellor, Bismarck, was fond of Black Velvet (Guinness mixed with champagne) as a pick-me-up; the alternative uses of Guinness as a hair tonic and furniture polish; and the construction of a brewery in Ikeja, near Lagos in Nigeria, was the first to be constructed outside of Ireland and Great Britain. Good condition, repaired folds and minor tears, backed on linen.

FAQs

More information about our posters and service.

Are your posters originals?

All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
