Nordic World Ski Championships Poland
Original vintage winter sport poster for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships held in Zakopane Poland from 18-25 February 1962 / Nordische Skiweltmeisterschaft Zakopane II.1962 Polska featuring a dynamic abstract design depicting a skier skiing down a slope at speed with snow spraying up and various national flags of the competing countries flying on the blue background, the title above and below with the 1919 PZN (Polski Zwiazek Narciarski / Polish Ski Association) and FIS (International Ski Federation) logos. The 1962 championships was won by the Soviet Union with Sweden in second place and Norway in third place; the men's and women's events included individual and relay cross-country and Nordic skiing as well as ski jumping. Art by the Polish graphic designers Henryk Tomaszewski (1914-2005) and Wojciech Fangor (1922-2015), creators of the Polish School of Posters. Good condition, restored tears, restored paper losses, restored creasing, minor staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
