Austrian War Welfare Exhibition WWI
Original antique World War One era advertising poster - Offizielle Kriegsfursorge Ausstellung Kriegsgraphik Osterreichisches Museum fur Kunst und Industrie Stubenring 5 / Official War Welfare Exhibition War Graphics at the Austrian Museum of Art and Industry (opened 1864; now the Museum of Applied Arts MAK) from 10 March to 22 April. Great design featuring an illustration of a warrior in a helmet holding a spear and shield with his shadow against the yellow background, the bold stylised title text above and on a diagonal box below with further information on the side. Artwork by the poster designer and theatre artist Jozsef Diveky / Joseph Diveky (1887-1951), a member of the Wiener Werkstatte group (the Vienna Workshop founded 1903; closed in 1932). Good condition, creasing, tears, staining, pinholes, paper losses on top edge.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
