Original vintage set of two London Transport posters for Royal London St. James's Palace celebrating the coronation year of Queen Elizabeth II, one featuring a colourful image of the historic Tudor red brick clock tower and gatehouse of St. James's Palace (built 1531-1536) with a large engraved ceremonial halberd against the blue sky in the foreground, and the other giving information framed by brick battlements at the top and a stylised line-up of the Queen's Guard, sentries and ceremonial heralds below the text describing the history and traditions of the palace from the reign of Henry VIII and Queen Victoria to welcoming Prince Charles to the traditional home of the Princes of Wales, guidance on the neighbouring landmarks of the Chapels Royal, Clarence House, Green Park, Marlborough House, Pall Mall and St. James's Street with notes on visiting the Changing of the Guard and details on travel by tube and bus with the London Underground logo. Printed by Waterlow & Sons, London & Dunstable. Good condition, folds, creasing, tears, pinholes, staining, tape on reverse corners.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
