Original vintage LMS London Midland and Scottish Railway travel poster for Blarney Castle - Ireland This Year - featuring scenic artwork by the notable British artist and illustrator Norman Wilkinson (1878-1971) of the historic stone castle keep with its turrets in front of the cloudy sky background, surrounded by trees with people walking through the castle grounds in the foreground. Located in County Cork Ireland, the medieval Blarney Castle is a popular tourist destination for the rock formations and gardens, as well as for visitors wanting to kiss the Blarney Stone (Stone of Eloquence), hanging upside down at the top of the tower. Printed in England by Messrs David Allen and Sons Ltd.  Good condition, restored loss and tears, minor staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
