Cabin in the Sky Hirschfeld
Original movie trade ad for a film, Cabin in the Sky. From the 1920s, film studios would commission the finest artists of the day to create elaborate trade ads, which were sent to cinemas in an effort to get them to book that specific movie. Cabin in the Sky is an African-American musical directed by Vincente Minnelli and one of the first major all-black star movies produced by a major studio, intended to be shown to both white and black audiences. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song. Fantastic artwork of a dancing couple with an angel wearing a halo looking down from a cloud and a devil looking up from a flaming fire at them. Design by Albert "Al" Hirschfeld (1903-2003), an American caricaturist best known for his black and white portraits of celebrities and Broadway stars. Good condition, staple holes on top left corner, minor dents, staining. Printed on both sides.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
