Original vintage movie poster for an American drama film Bird Man of Alcatraz "Inside the rock called Alcatraz they tried to chain a volcano they called 'The Bird Man'!" directed by John Frankenheimer and starring Burt Lancaster in the leading role as Robert Stroud (a convicted murderer who becomes known as the Birdman of Alcatraz because of his interest and expertise in birds whilst in jail), Karl Malden, Thelma Ritter, Neville Brand, Edmond O'Brien, Betty Field and Telly Savalas. Great design featuring Burt Lancaster standing behind a locked prison door with white birds flying by freely on the other side of the jail bars. Printed in the USA. Very good condition, folded as issued, faint creases in margins. Small stripe correcting the spelling mistake from Tony Savalas to Telly Savalas in the credits.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
