Original vintage movie poster for the first release of the iconic sci-fi Star Wars saga by George Lucas with music by John Williams starring Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, Alec Guinness as Obi Wan-Kenobi, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker as the droids C3-PO and R2-D2, Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca, Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin and David Prowse as Darth Vader. Classic instantly recognisable design by the British poster artist Tom William Chantrell (1916-2001), featuring the Star Wars title, "May the force with be with you" slogan and a dynamic image of the main characters firing guns and lightsabers with the Death Star and tie fighters against a starry black background. Two versions of this poster were produced; following the film's launch in the UK, Star Wars was nominated for the Oscars so the studios added the text - 7 Academy Awards including best visual effects and best original score - with an Oscar statue between the title and credits. Horizontal British quad poster. Very good condition, restored minor tears and folds, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
