Original antique advertising poster - Living Posters - published by Les Maitres de l'Affiche / Masters of the Posters [plate 87] as one of a collection of 256 colour lithographic plates reproduced from the original work of 97 artists during the Belle Epoque period to create an art publication that was put together by Jules Cheret (1836-1932); known as "the father of poster art". The selection of prints were sold in packs of four and sent monthly to subscribers from 1895-1900. This design by Frank Hazenplug (1873-1931) was originally printed in Chicago in 1896 to promote a poster exhibition and depicts a lady leaning forward in a chair with the title above and down the side in red letters. Printed in France by Imprimerie Chaix. Very good condition, browning on edges, creases on left margin.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
