Original vintage French advertising poster for a poster exhibition 1890 to 1939 - L'Affiche en Couleurs / The Poster in Colours - held in July and August 1939 at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers in Paris. Colourful Art Nouveau design featuring artwork by the renowned poster artist Jules Cheret (1836-1932) in 1894 depicting a young lady with her dress flowing around her with yellow ribbons as she dances and plays music on a tambourine in front of a red circle with a clown musician holding a guitar below, the stylised title text around the red circle and the rest of the text on the side in blue and red letters. Designed by Imp. Chaix (Ateliers Cheret). Printed by imp. Mourlot, Paris. Very good condition, minor folds and creases.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
