Original vintage LNER train travel poster for Scarborough featuring a stunning Art Deco design by the notable painter and poster artist Fred Taylor (1875-1963) depicting a scenic view of the iconic South Bay Bathing Pool in the popular North Yorkshire seaside holiday resort town with crowds of people in the spectator seating area in the foreground watching swimmers on the diving board and water slide and people swimming in the outdoor pool with the large sandy beach leading round to The Grand Hotel and Scarborough Spa with the castle on top of the hill in the background, the bold title and information text below - New guide from Town Clerk or any L.N.E.R. agency. The open air sea water Bathing Pool complex in Scarborough was opened in 1915 as the largest swimming pool in Europe; the diving platform and water chute were removed in 1934 and replaced with a high diving board; other changes over the years included the installation of fountains and a children's area; due to the new heated North Bay Pool and a decline in spectator water sport during the 1980s, the pool closed in 1989. FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.

Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
