Original vintage London Transport poster featuring a programme of events from 3 to 9 April - This Week in London Ideal Home Exhibition Olympia Concerts Squash Rackets Boxing Ice Hockey - with the text in the centre and details including the London Underground stations and days and times of a symphony orchestra, piano and violin recital, non-stop concert and music competition festival as well as squash championships and amateur association boxing at the Royal Albert Hall South Kensington, and USA v Canada ice hockey test match at the ice-drome in Hammersmith, with the London Underground roundel logo in the corner and stunning Art Deco images on the side border and below depicting theatre masks with a ballet dancer under stage lights, horse racing and motorcycle racing with a greyhound dog race and spectators, a lady diving and rowers on the River Thames in a boat race, tennis players on a court with a cricket bat, ball and stumps, and people enjoying an art gallery with paintings, sculptures and flowers outside. The British commercial artist and poster designer Cecil Walter Bacon (1905-1992) worked with London Transport from 1932-1935. Printed by Waterlow & Sons Ltd, London, Dunstable and Watford. Good condition, restored paper loss on bottom right corner, restored tears, restored folds, browning, staining, discolouration from sun damage, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
