Original vintage London Transport poster - Amid the groves, under the shadowy hills... - designed by the British painter and master lithographer Barnett Freedman (1901-1958), using a line from the 1814 poem The Excursion by the notable English Romantic poet William Wordsworth to advertise a free information leaflet on country houses open to the public available from The Publicity Officer 55 The Broadway SW1, the title and London Transport logo between an image of people walking through an elegant formal estate garden filled with manicured topiaries and stone balustrades above, and a countryside view with deer grazing in the foreground and a manor house nestled on the horizon framed by trees below. Printed by The Baynard Press. Good condition, folds, creasing, tears, pinholes, staining, tape on reverse corners.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
