LT London Country Village Life Cricket Hunting
Original vintage London Transport travel poster titled In London's Country Village Life featuring a colourful design by the notable British artist and author Len Deighton (1929-2026) depicting a typical English summer scene showing a cricket match on a village green, fox hunters in red jackets on horses with their hound dogs, bicycles outside a traditional village shop adorned with advertisements for postage stamps and sweets, a Queen's Head pub sign, a rustic farm cart surrounded by chickens and posters on the side of a wooden clubhouse for a Film Show at the Shed (behind library), a fundraising 12 Troop Boy Scouts Handicraft Exhibition and Dairy Show, and a postponed Dick Turnbull dance show at the town hall, with a red roundel for London Transport below. Commissioned by London Transport to promote leisure travel on the London Underground as well as the Country Buses and Green Line coaches, this work is particularly significant for being designed by Deighton who was a professional illustrator before writing The Ipcress File (published in 1962) and other spy novels, becoming internationally well-known as an author. Published in edition of 2,500. Good condition, restored paper losses, restored tears, minor staining, backed on linen.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
