Original vintage advertising poster for Steinway pianos featuring a great illustration by the German artist Werner Von Axster-Heudtlass (1898-1949) depicting a young lady wearing a fabulous dress flowing around the piano stool, playing the piano marked with the distinctive Steinway & Sons logo with a man in a smart black tie / tuxedo suit standing by the side and listening attentively to the music with his head bent down and arms crossed, a tapestry on the wall in the background shows three figures playing stringed musical instruments and the stylised title text swirls in front of the pianist's dress below. Founded in 1853 by Heinrich Engelhard Steinweg (Henry Engelhard Steinway; 1797-1871) Steinway & Sons is an award winning American piano company renowned for producing high quality pianos. Printed in Germany by Elsnerdruck, Berlin. c.1930s. Good condition, creasing, tears, staining, pinholes.

Are your posters originals?
All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
