Wool In National Dress Hungary

£250.00

Original vintage poster from the Wool in National Dress series featuring a colourful image by Drake Brookshaw (1907-1993) depicting two men wearing traditional clothing and hats, both with moustaches and smoking pipes with a lady carrying a large woven basket on her head in the background, an image of the world showing where Hungary is marked with a red arrow on a globe next to the title in red and information below: Hungary is bounded by Czechoslovakia to the north, Yugoslavia to the south, Austria to the west and Rumania to the east. The river Danube divides the country into two parts and flows through the capital, Budapest. Hungary is home of the Magyars, a tribe of horsemen who settled on the great Hungarian plain over a thousand years ago. To this day the great plain pastures huge flocks of sheep, herds of cattle and droves of horses. Herdsmen wear heavy woollen greatcoats, the sleeves of which hang empty, while the coat is secured by a strap across the chest. These coats are richly embroidered. But the shepherds wrap up in whole sheepskins, in winter to keep out the bitter cold, and in summer to protect themselves against the stinging dust storms that sweep the hot plain. Issued by the International Wool Secretariat. Fair condition, creasing, tears, staining, pinholes.

FAQs

More information about our posters and service.

Are your posters originals?

All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
