[ON RESERVE PENDING PAYMENT 27/10/24] Original antique advertising poster for Le Coup De La Semelle Michelin / The Power of the Michelin Sole featuring a great illustration by the French cartoonist Marius Rossillon (known as O'Galop; 1867-1946) who created the iconic Bibendum / Michelin Man character in 1898 and produced posters for the French tire company Michelin (founded 1889) from 1898-1911. Great design featuring the trademark Bibendum figure made from tyres smoking a cigar and looking back towards the viewer with a raised foot showing the sole against a red background with the stylised text in yellow letters over the shadow below. Large size. Good condition, restored paper losses, restored pinholes, restored tears, restored stains, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
