Original antique musical theatre poster for Stamboul / Istanbul advertising poems and music by the composer Edouard Tremisot (1874-1952) and a lyrical drama based on the 1900 novel by Claude Farrere (Frederic-Charles Bargone; 1876-1957) L'Homme Qui Assassina / The Man Who Killed and a play adapted from the novel by Pierre Frondaie (Albert Rene Fraudet; 1884-1948) featuring stunning Art Deco artwork depicting a bearded man in white walking by tall trees that dominate the foreground with more trees and the historic buildings of the Istanbul city skyline in the background under a yellow sky and pink crescent moon set within a black border, the stylised lettering in bold below. Stamboul or Stambul is a variant spelling of Istanbul (also known as Byzantium and Constantinople), located on the Bosporus in Turkey. Large size. Very good condition, minor staining on right margin, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
