Original vintage Guinness advertising poster featuring a fun and rare Alice in Wonderland themed illustration by the notable artist John Gilroy (John Thomas Young Gilroy; 1898-1985) of the Mad Hatter's Tea Party depicting a colourful cartoon image of the iconic Mad Hatter character pointing to his pocket watch and showing it to the animal characters gathered around him including The March Hare, Mouse, Owl, Dodo, Crab, Lobster, The Lory (parrot) and Pigeon, created by the well-known English writer Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson; 1832-1898), with the stylised text on the poster reading: A Sane Lunch Party (Many Guinness Times removed from Lewis Carroll) "If you knew Time as well as I do," said the Hatter, "You'd only have to whisper a hint to him, and round goes the clock in a twinkling! One o'clock - Guinness Time ("I only wish it was," the March Hare said to itself in a whisper, "I'm simply longing for a Guinness."). One of the world's most popular beer drink brands, Guinness is an Irish dry stout founded by Arthur Guinness in Dublin in 1759. Printed in Great Britain by The Dangerfield Printing Co. Ltd, London. What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
