Original vintage advertising poster for Unilever Overseas India. Great illustrated map of India showing the industry production for Unilever with images including a tiger in a jungle, the Taj Mahal and Gateway to India monuments, farming and tea picking, and various cities marked with text showing distances of the area - Delhi to Calcutta over 800 miles Calcutta to Madras over 850 miles Madras to Bombay (now Mumbai) over 600 miles Bombay to Delhi over 700 miles. The British company Lever Brothers was founded by William Hesketh Lever 1st Viscount Leverhulme (1851-1925) and James Darcy Lever (1854-1916) in 1885 (based in north west England); in 1895 they expanded into the American market (based in Cambridge, Massachusetts); in 1929 the company was renamed Unilever after merging with the Dutch company Margarine Unie (founded 1927) to become the first modern multinational company. Unilever is now based in London England operating worldwide. Good condition, restored paper losses, restored tears, staining, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography. 

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
