The British company Lever Brothers was founded by William Hesketh Lever 1st Viscount Leverhulme (1851-1925) and James Darcy Lever (1854-1916) in 1885 (based in north west England); in 1895 they expanded into the American market (based in Cambridge, Massachusetts); in 1929 the company was renamed Unilever after merging with the Dutch company Margarine Unie (founded 1927) to become the first modern multinational company. Unilever is now based in London England operating worldwide. Good condition, restored paper losses, restored tears, staining, backed on linen.
