Original vintage exhibition poster for Ариадна / Ariadna issued by the Soviet Fund for Cultural Cooperatives - From Unofficial Art to Perestroika post war Leningrad avant-garde 1948-1988 - held from 8-31 January 1989 at the Exhibition Complex on Vasilyevsky Island Leningrad (St Petersburg) depicting an outline of a man hammering a nail into his own head with his skull exposed set on a blue background. The exhibition featured history of the artistic life of Leningrad from 1949-1989 and included lectures, documentaries, artist meetings, poetry and speeches by art critics. Soviet nonconformist art was Soviet art produced in the former USSR outside the control of the state during the Stalinist era and, in particular, outside of the rules of Socialist Realism; also known as Soviet counterculture, underground art or unofficial art. Horizontal. Good condition, restored tears on left edge, minor creasing, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
