Lithograph re-issue of the famous Art Deco travel advertising poster to promote the maiden voyage of the ocean liner Normandie (a French Line Compagnie Generale Transatlantique CGT ship, the SS Normandie's maiden voyage was on 29 May 1935 from Le Havre to New York via Southampton; she crossed the Atlantic in four days, three hours and fourteen minutes, breaking a new world record). Stunning design by the renowned painter and poster artist Cassandre (Adolphe Jean-Marie Mouron; 1901-1968) of the ship sailing towards the viewer with seagulls flying below, the text in stylised white, black and red letters on the sea below the waves. Printed in France. Very good condition, creases in left and right margins.

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography. 

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
