Nord Express
Lithograph re-issue of the original poster by Cassandre's son, Henri Mouron.
First introduced in 1896, the Nord Express traveled from Paris to Saint Petersburg, stopping in Brussels, Cologne, Hanover, Berlin, Konigsberg, and Daugavpils along the way. It was meant to connect with the Sud Express, also out of Paris, creating a direct link from Russia to Lisbon, where passengers could board ships to America. After World War I, the final stop changed from St. Petersburg to Warsaw, and then was shut down for good come World War II. Here, Cassandre perfectly portrays the two most important factors in early rail travel: romance and speed. Our eyes are both focused on the geometric whirl of the tracks and the seemingly-endless, far-off horizon. The size and power of the engine is so brilliantly executed that one can almost feel that solid wall of hot air hitting you as it races by.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
