Original vintage Soviet movie poster for a 1981 film based on a novel by Klaus Mann - Mephisto - directed by Istvan Szabo and starring Klaus Maria Brandauer as Hendrik Hofgen. Dynamic artwork featuring a red face of a man inside a black stripe down the centre, with the figures of a German soldier and a young lady on the left and the face of a lady on the right below the credits, the stylised title text diagonally above and through the stripe. This film was co-produced by West German, Hungarian and Austrian companies and was the first Hungarian film to win the Best Foreign Language Film award. Very good condition, small tears and stains in margins.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
