Il y a 50 ans Normandie

Sold

Original vintage poster issued to commemorate 50 years since the launch of the famous cruise ship in 1935. The SS Normandie was a French ocean liner built for the Compagnie Generale Transatlantique as the most powerful steam turbo-electric-propelled passenger ship ever built and the most luxurious and largest ocean liner afloat at the time, rivalled only by the RMS Queen Mary. After being seized in New York by the Americans during World War Two and renamed USS Lafayette, the liner caught fire in 1942 while being converted into a troop ship and was scrapped in 1946. Printer's proof. Excellent condition.

FAQs

More information about our posters and service.

Are your posters originals?

All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
