Original vintage movie poster for the first release of the iconic Star Wars saga by George Lucas starring Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, Alec Guinness as Obi Wan-Kenobi, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker as the droids C3-PO and R2-D2, Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca, Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin and David Prowse as Darth Vader. This design by the British poster artist Tom William Chantrell (1916-2001) featuring the bold Star Wars title above the credit text and May the force with be with you below a dynamic image of the main characters firing guns and lightsabres, the Death Star and tie-fighters flying at speed on a starry black background, became instantly recognisable and closely associated with the Star Wars film. Two versions of the poster were produced, this one being the rarer version: Following the film's launch in the UK, Star Wars was nominated for the Oscars so the studios added text about the nomination to the poster; at the time, only the larger cinemas were showing the film before its nomination, making these pre-Oscar posters are the rarer of the two versions. Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
