Original vintage advertising poster for Elswick Cycles Pioneers of Cycle Design featuring a great image of a smiling lady wearing a stylish red top, shorts, white belt and blue and white striped summer shoes, looking at the viewer and holding her bike under a tree with the hills reflected on the water in the background, the title on the blue border above and an image of The Badge of Craftsmanship logo on the side inscribed Elswick Barton-on-Humber England with a seahorse on choppy waves. Elswick bicycles were produced from the late 1800s; the company merged with Hopper to form the Elswick Hopper Cycle and Motor Company in 1914, later expanding and rebranding as Falcon Cycles in the 1980s. Good condition, restored tears, restored creasing, restored paper losses, staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
