Original vintage National Academy of Sciences (NAS) poster - Sun & Earth "Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? Canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?" Job 38:33 - from a series of six posters created in 1958 by artist Herbert Danska, depicting a silhouette facing the sun in blazing red and orange, reaching one arm up with his other hand below a spherical object as a globe behind white lines and arrows with a lightening bolt, aurora on the north and south poles and a spacecraft on the side, the small black and white inset photographs below the quote showing scientists at work, graphs and scientific equipment above the bold title text at the bottom. The American nonprofit, non-governmental organization National Academy of Sciences was formed in 1863. A National Academy of Sciences Project IGY Under grants from the National Science Foundation and The Ford Foundation. Large size. Very good condition, creasing.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
