Original rare vintage theatre advertising poster for the Broadway success The Road To Rome by Robert E Sherwood at the Wiesbaden Opera House under the auspices of the American Red Cross and Special Service for two weeks beginning October 8th 1945, performances nightly 8pm starring England's leading film star James Mason (as Hannibal) with Pamela Kellino (as Amytis) and members of the U.S. Forces and A.R.C. Great illustration featuring a young lady sitting on a white elephant and holding a flower and a spear with an historic arch, trees and elephants in the background, the text above and below in stylised black, blue and red letters. A comedy about the futility of war The Road to Rome (1927) was the first Broadway play by the award winning American playwright Robert Emmet Sherwood (1896-1955). The notable English actor James Neville Mason (1909-1984) and the English actress Pamela Kellino (Pamela Helen Ostrer / Pamela Mason; 1916-1996) worked together and were married from 1941-1964. Fair condition, paper browning, restored tears, folds and paper loss, faint staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
