The Straitjacket WWII USSR Military Readiness

£2,750.00

Original vintage Soviet propaganda poster issued to convey Soviet military readiness on the eve of World War Two depicting red fighter planes with the outline of stars on the aircraft wings dropping a mass of bombs marked with red stars, forming the shape of a straitjacket over the cowering aggressors as caricatures showing Nazi Germany as pig-faced man in a bloodied horned helmet with a sword in his belt and holding a lit bomb behind his back, and Japan hiding under an umbrella covering his bloodied bayonet rifle gun, both looking terrified with bold quotes in red on the margin below - "...there can be no doubt that our country will find the necessary number of straitjackets for such madmen" from Comrade Joseph Stalin's report to the 18th Congress of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). "...a mass of lethal metal, capable of travelling vast distances, could be a good Soviet straitjacket for aggressors gripped by delusional ideas, if they, in a mad rush, invade Soviet soil" from Kliment Voroshilov's speech at the 18th Congress of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). / "...можно не сомневаться, что в нашей стране найдется необходимое количество смирительных рубах для таких сумашедших" из отчетного доклада товарища Сталина на 18 съезде ВКП(б). "...масса разящего металла, способного перемещаться на огромные расстояния, может быть неплохой советской смирительной рубахой для охваченных бредовыми идеями агрессоров, если они в безумном порыве полезут на землю советов" из речи Ворошилова на 18 съезде ВКП(б). Are your posters originals?

All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
