Original vintage advertising poster - Britain's Past & Present Beckon You to Wembley British Empire Exhibition April to October 1924. Great illustration by the British painter and graphic artist Elijah Albert Cox (1876-1955) featuring a colourful scene of a royal barge with the sails on the ship billowing, flags flying, the Queen on a throne and people in the foreground, the text below against the dark border. 56 colonial territories took part in the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley Park from 23 April 1924 (opened by King George V) to 31 October 1925 in the purpose built national sports ground, Wembley Stadium (1923-2000). Very good condition, restored small tears on folds and margins, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography. 

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
