Original antique advertising poster for a performance of Kismet starring Oscar Asche and Lily Brayton featuring a scenic illustration by the painter and set designer Joseph Harker depicting a narrow street with trees and people under the shade next to the buildings leading to the dome of a mosque below the blue sky background, the title text in stylised lettering down the side. Inspired his travels to North Africa the three act play Kismet (fate / destiny) was written in 1911 by the American British playwright and author Edward Knoblauch (Edward Gustavus Knoblauch; 1874-1945), for the Australian theatre producer and actor Oscar Asche (John Stange/r Heiss Oscar Asche; 1871-1936); Asche played the lead role of the beggar Hajj with his wife the English singer and actress Lily Brayton (Elizabeth Brayton; 1876-1953) playing the role of Marsinah. What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography. 

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
