Original antique poster for a World War One film in three parts - A Somme Menti Utkozet Harom reszben - about the Battle of the Somme featuring a dynamic design by one of the masters of early Hungarian poster art Imre Foldes (1881-1948) depicting an image of a German soldier in green military uniform and helmet throwing a hand grenade in the foreground, standing on a small hill next to a dead tree with a soldier using a flame thrower and more soldiers in the background, the title in bold stylised lettering below. Published by the Kunossy Muintezet printing company (1856-1931) in Budapest. One of the deadliest battles in history that resulted in high casualties on both sides, the WWI Battle of the Somme was fought between the British Empire and French Third Republic armies against the German Empire army on the River Somme in northern France from 1 July 1916 to 18 November 1916. Large size. Fair condition, restored tears, restored creasing, restored paper loss, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
