Original antique advertising poster promoting the Carnevalsfeste des Clubs der Rheinlander Koln - the annual Cologne carnival festival in February over the Faschingsdienstag (Shrove Tuesday) week featuring a great design of a man dressed as a harlequin clown on parade with colourful ticker tape in the foreground and the silhouette of Koln Cathedral behind him with the traditional greeting Alaaf (hurray) above in large red letters. Artwork by the notable German Sachplakat graphic designer and typographer Hans Rudi Erdt (1883-1918). Printed in Germany by Hollergaum & Schmidt, Berlin. Horizontal. Good condition, creases, repaired tears and minor loss on margins.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
