Original antique London & North Western Railway travel poster - Lakeland The English Lakes are England's Playground - featuring black and white image of scenic views and the activities on offer in the Lake District including sailing and historic villages, ancient ruins and hills in Windermere Keswick Ambleside Coniston Kendal Grasmere Ullswater with the bold headings - Yachting Coaching Boating Motoring Fishing Cycling Golfing Bowling Rock Climbing - and central image of people at the top of Napes Needle Scafell against a decorative green background and information below in French - Vacances en Angleterre. The LNWR London & North Western Railway operated train services from 1846 until 1922 when it became part of the LMS London Midland and Scottish railway. Designed by Petty and Sons Ltd, Whitehall Printeries, Leeds. Printed by Johnson and Sons in Windermere. Good condition, restored tears, restored paper losses, minor staining, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
