Lorenzaccio Sarah Bernhardt Mucha
Original antique advertising poster for the performance of Lorenzaccio at the Theatre de la Renaissance in Paris, an adaption by M. Armand d'Artois of a romantic tragedy play written by Alfred de Musset (1810-1857), starring the famous French actress Sarah Bernhardt (1844-1923) in the lead male role of Lorenzo de' Medici (who kills the tyrant Alessandro de' Medici). Fantastic Art Nouveau design by the notable painter and decorative artist Alphonse Mucha (Alfons Maria Mucha; 1860-1939) featuring Sarah Bernhardt in costume holding a book with a dagger on her belt as she ponders murder, a snaring dragon above the decorative top border with a coat of arms and a floral gold leaf design in the background, a dagger piercing the tyrant on the bottom border with the stylised text above and below. Bernhardt loved Mucha's iconic portrayal of her so much that she commissioned him to produce all the posters, stage and costume designs for her productions from Gismonda in 1895 to Hamlet 1899. Large. Good condition, restored loss, tape marks, tears and staining, backed on linen.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
